Painting and Coloring a Cotton Tent

Paint and dyes can negatively affect the treatment of the canvas and are not covered under warranty.

That said, we know many of you are artists and see canvas for what it is—a blank slate. Here are some tips:

• Use matte, latex exterior paint diluted with 1/3 water. Two layers of diluted paint should flex easily with the canvas. Applying more layers may cause the canvas to crack.
• If you plan to paint over a previous layer, use thinner paint for better results.
• Test the paint on a small section of the canvas to see how it absorbs and how the color appears when dry.
• If the canvas becomes too stiff, dilute the paint further.
