Founded in 2021 by Erin Crider, Uncharted Outdoorswomen is an outfitting company with a powerful mission: to create a community for women to gather, learn outdoor skills, and become better conservationists together. After struggling to find her place in the hunting community, Erin created one for women like her who want to develop hunting, fishing, and outdoor skills with confidence. They are the only known legally registered U.S. outfitter to employ all women guides.
Uncharted Outdoorswomen offers a wide range of educational and guided experiences accross Colorado—from waterfowl and big-game hunts to fly fishing, foraging, archery, and more.
Erin Crider is a lifelong bass angler, taught by her grandmother, but came to hunting later in life. She was eager to join guides on hunting and fishing trips, however found a serious lack of opportunities for women to gain the outdoor skills that she had deemed so transformative. So in 2020, she quit her corporate job working on Wall Street and built Uncharted Outdoorswomen. She aimed to bridge the gap in the hunting community for women to partake in these life-changing trips alongside other female guides.
She offers guided hunts and training events that last the day, or even then weekend, when the team gets the opportunity to camp together in our Sibley Bell Protech tents. Erin is using CanvasCamp tents to bring her closer to the life she wants to live and doing what she loves, while giving other women the chance to do the same.

Women who join Unchartered Outdoorswomen are looking for adventure, friendship, and even improvement to their mental health. Unchartered Outdoorswomen aims to leverage their network of experienced outdoorswomen to grow community and teach each other how to practice ethical hunting and fishing standards. The hunting experiences allow the women to connect with nature, recreate and challenge themselves, create strong community ties and more.
For many, hunting even brings them closer to the family legacy and tradition passed down throughout generations, just like Erin and her grandmother. Participants leave the camp feeling empowered, fulfilled and with a freezer full of their wild game.

Part of the organization’s mission is also to preserve public lands and create more sustainable practices. “Conservation is one of our highest priorities; having a good time lies just below that.”
Any well-prepared, safe hunting expedition starts with a reliable basecamp. Experts opt for a canvas tent, like a canvas outfitter, bell tent or wall tent.
Similarly, when Erin was looking to purchase her outfitter tents, she had requirements:
- Sustainable—no cheap throwaways or excess landfill waste.
- Easy to pitch—something one or two women could handle with confidence.
- Space-efficient—compact enough for remote wild spots.
- And cute—because rugged doesn’t mean boring.
Without a doubt, CanvasCamp was the solution. Erin chose our Protech Bell tents, and here’s why:
Durable & Reliable
Our canvas tents are built to take a beating—UV-resistant, mildew-resistant, and breathable in all conditions. With the Protech's heavy duty poles and durable canvas, you can trust that you have a sturdy shelter to return to day after day, no matter the rugged terrain or weather conditions. Our tents are field-tested and trusted by wilderness instructors, researchers, remote field crews and anyone else who relies on gear that holds up.
All-Season Ready
Uncharted Outdoorswomen has expeditions during peak hunting season, including the colder months of November-January. In conditions like these, they need a hot tent, and our canvas tents are stove-ready and ideal for winter camping. All of our tents can be equipped with a stove, and the stove exits are easy to install, taking just about ten minutes.
Portable & Permit-Free
Our canvas tents are fast to pitch and easy to pack, just what Erin needed. Our tents offer serious shelter with minimal infrastructure—ideal for remote sites and temporary use, so the women at Unchartered can take their basecamps anywhere the seasons call for.
Accommodating Big Groups
Our spacious bell tents hold the whole crew and their gear. When you choose CanvasCamp, you don't need to compromise. On these expeditions, all the gear you need has a place in the basecamp shelter. Erin chose our 600 Twin Bell tent and other Protech Bell tent models.

"CanvasCamp tents check every box! The tents have become the backbone of our seasonal camps. We used them last week for our women's hunting camp and it performed exceptionally under heavy rain and on the rugged terrain. It kept the group of us protected and dry."
Uncharted Outdoorswomen’s most recent group expedition was the weekend-long Women’s Big Game Skills Camp in July 2025. The team used our canvas tents as their hunting basecamp, where it kept them dry through the rainy weather, and safe and secure on the rugged terrain.
On these weekend expeditions, the guides welcome new hunters who want to learn how to hunt big game and gain enough skills to hunt deer, elk, and more. The event is incredibly educational for those who want to learn how to hunt big game animals independently. The itinerary includes activities such as:
- Learning big game hunting techniques, information, and strategies.
- Identifying a good area to hunt big game and how to approach the area during different times of day/season.
- Rifle basics and hands-on shooting out to 100 yards with multiple rifles to try.
- Archery basics with 3D decoys.
- Pulling a big game tag for fall/winter.

At such a thrilling, adrenaline filled event, the last thing the team needs to worry about is their basecamp failing them. That’s why Erin, and many other hunters and outfitters rely on our tents to keep them secure through the hunting season, whether it’s the chilly big game seasons or warm summer fishing seasons.
Follow along with Uncharted Outdoorswomen to keep up with their life-changing expeditions and get inspired about how you can use our tents to get closer to the outdoor adventures of your dreams.
FAQ for CanvasCamp Basecamps
What makes CanvasCamp tents so durable?
Our canvas is treated during production with an invisible, integrated coating that’s UV-resistant, fade-resistant, 100% water-repellent, and mold- and rot-resistant—while still allowing the fabric to breathe. The treatment bonds directly to the fibers during manufacturing, so the performance is built in, not just applied on top.
It’s the kind of protection you don’t notice until you’re in the field and it matters—season after season. Precision manufacturing, premium long-staple cotton yarn, and field-proven coatings mean our tents hold up to sun, rain, and time without sacrificing comfort or air flow.
What kind of material are CanvasCamp Protech tents made from?
The Protech tents are made with Tentex® C32 durable 100% cotton canvas developed in Europe for and by the outdoor industry, with the Seal of Cotton®. Designed for heavy-duty use in any weather conditions and throughout all seasons.

Are Bell Tents sturdy?
Yes, very! The aerodynamic cone shape of our Sibley Bell tents allows these models to naturally withstand more wind and snow than other camping structures. When the tent is set up taut, the conical shape of the roof directs wind to the top, allowing it to flow freely without compromising tent integrity. The center pole system is also a protective feature, as it is specifically engineered to flex under pressure, so it acts as a safeguard against potential tears in the tent fabric. The pole boasts impressive strength when positioned vertically and the tent is tautly stretched. This design ensures optimal carrying capacity for enhanced stability and performance.
What is a hot tent?
A hot tent is a camping set up that includes a stove-compatible tent installed with a wood-burning stove for heating (and even cooking!), ideal for winter and shoulder season camping.
Does CanvasCamp offer hot tents?
Yes, all of our tents can be equipped with a stove. We have models with pre-installed stove vents or exits, as well as the option to install it yourself. Our exits accommodate any stove type, anywhere in the tent, and are easy to install, taking just about ten minutes. We also have wood-burning stoves that we believe to be the best on the market. You can find everything you need for your hot tent setup on our site.
Are CanvasCamp fireproof?
There is no such thing as a fireproof tent, but our tents are naturally fire-resistant thanks to the canvas material. They are also treated to meet fire safety standard BS7837:1996. Our flex event tents are also fire-rated for professional use.
